Councilor Craddick's inaugural address

It is with great joy, humility and anticipation that I look forward to the next four years serving as Metro Councilor for District 1. My six years serving on the Gresham City Council was rewarding and helped me clarify where my interests and talents are most suited, and that is here at Metro.

My passion for the environment, recycling, smart land-use planning, natural areas are all found right here at Metro. This confluence of my interests and passions makes it easy for me to promise that I will dedicate all my focus to serving this body and representing the voters of my district who overwhelmingly put such trust in me.

There is a critical need for governments and business to work together to solve problems as we navigate through a complicated present into a changing future. The challenges we face transcend the cities in District 1. Collaboration and partnership in the face of these challenges is critical to future economic development throughout our region.

I promised the people in District 1 that I would work to bring them a better place to live, more jobs, active town centers and a healthy environment, and I will work hard to fulfill those promises. I also look forward to working together with my colleagues on the Metro Council and all of Metro's partners to make sure the right investments are made in all parts of the region.

I would not be able to work towards these goals today without the help of all of my supporters. I'd like to thank my husband Richard Craddick, who put as much time into my campaign as I did; my daughter Emily Craddick, who took care of many of my campaign details; my daughter and son-in-law Amy and Marc East, who have been wonderful listeners; my campaign staff, who directed me along the way; the many supporters in my district who were willing to vote for me; and lastly, former Metro Councilor Rod Park, who has been extremely helpful with my transition into my role at Metro.

I look forward to the next four years at Metro, and hope that you will continue to stay engaged in Metro's work throughout my term.

Below is a video of the remarks I gave at Metro's Inauguration Ceremony on January 4th. Enjoy!
